The Short Corner
A 2-v-1 in the corner drags a defender out and opens the whole box.
Pass short to a support runner, commit the nearest defender, then cross from a better, squarer angle into a now-stretched box.
The setup
A support runner steps short to the taker, making it two attackers against the one near defender.
The movement
The give-and-go drags the marker out; the return ball is crossed from a flatter, more dangerous angle.
Coaching points
- Only commit short if you create a clear 2-v-1 — otherwise you waste it.
- The second pass squares the angle, turning a corner into a cut-back cross.
- Runners hold their depth until the cross is struck to stay onside and unmarked.
